Too Liberal Artsy?

Hi everyone,
I am interested in attending Stanford, but I am wondering if it is the right fit for me. I excel in math and science and want to pursue mechanical engineering. I enjoy some liberal arts classes, but do not want to be constantly writing papers or analyzing books. I recently attended an information session and noticed how often Stanford was described as a liberal arts college. I would not want to attend a traditional liberal arts college, but since Stanford has an excellent engineering school, it seems like a good fit.

How much different is the curriculum in engineering to other schools like Georgia Tech or University of Texas?

Thanks.

Stanford has distribution requirement that include classes in humanities and social sciences. There are many classes to choose from. This might be your last chance to study this kind of stuff and widen your horizons - take advantage of it (your engineering education will not suffer because of it at Stanford).
