"too low of a GPA"?

Princeton is my number one; always has been, always will. However, I’m not applying SCEA. I fear that to only apply to Princeton and get deferred is to waste the opportunity to apply to my other more safety/match schools and find out their decisions earlier and feel more at ease.
I know it’s pretty subjective to gauge the excellence of your own essay, but from the feedback I’ve received thus far, I can say it’s good…sure.
My circumstances are pretty unique, and I’ve tried expressing that through my application. However, no matter the amount of “hooks” (first gen, <40k income, lack of one parent, etc…and sadly more :/) I feel like they won’t save my GPA.
My GPA is 3.61/4.22. (~top quartile?)
My school is highly competitive. Our college yield is pretty good for a public school. I think 7 admits to Princeton last year?
My SAT is a 2320.
My subject tests +APs…not great. But I’m retaking the subject tests and not submitting my APs.
From my GPA range, Princeton accepts around 4-6% I believe? And I’m assuming those spots are mainly reserved for athletes.
I plan to apply as a COS (AB) or Arts major.
I’m also contemplating whether to apply as an arts major? Or BSE.
Even if I select arts, I’m wondering if I should place it as my #1 prospective major or #2, behind COS.

In essence, I’m wondering if GPAs and scores ARE truly the foundation of an acceptance to Princeton?
I think I know the answer, but I’m just in denial.

GPA & scores are the foundation of an acceptance to Princeton.

@CGHTeach haha thanks for the frankness. I do appreciate it.

Allow this to set you free to explore all the other wonderful choices you WILL have with your stats! Good luck to you.

@CGHTeach thanks very much, CGHTeach:). I am definitely looking at an array of schools, especially since money is a concern. I’ll still be sad about this particular rejection, however. Just not looking forward to it. Thanks for the honesty and luck!
