I'm a junior in high school. This year I have taken 3 AP classes and 3 honors classes. Next year, I plan to take 5-6 ap classes.
Junior Year:
Honors Chem: 96
Honors Physics: 96
Honors Pre-Cal: 94
AP Psychology: 90
AP Lang & Comp: 94
APUSH: 93

Senior Year Plans:
AP Physics
AP Cal AB
AP Cal BC
AP Lit
AP Gov/Econ
I was thinking about taking out my AP Study Hall block and changing it to AP Stats. Do you think this would be too much? I also play 4 Varsity sports.

Your school offers AP Study Hall? That is pretty funny…

You didn’t explain things too well. Not sure how you would take AB and BC in the same year, unless you’re on a semester schedule, but if that’s the case, why do you only have 6 classes? Or is this really just a double-blocked BC class? AP Physics, are you talking about Physics C or just Physics 1 or 2?

Assuming Physics C, I would say it will be a little harder if you take the stats and easier if you don’t, considering your precalc isn’t double blocked and calc will be. College applications can take at least as much time as an AP course, depending how much planning you have already done and how many essays you need to write.

We have Block Schedule. I left off my “joke” classes (psychology, dance, cross country). It is AP Study Hall just because only kids in a certain program within are school are allowed in it (it’s not weighted like AP classes). AP Cal AB & AP Physics are split block that way we can take both the entire year and not just one semester. They allow students with an A in Pre-Cal to take AP Cal BC second semester as well. I have an interest in AP Statistics, but it would the full year in what we call our skinny block (where I currently have study hall). When I take psychology, I will probably be able to do at least an hour’s worth of homework every day in there. I could also take Dance out and put in another class that will allow me to do homework in the other semester.

It is possible, but like mathyone mentioned, college apps take a lot of time. My son took 7 junior year and 7 senior year (first semester) and although he did very well, it was a very difficult workload which probably made no difference in his college applications.
