Too Many AP's?

AP Physics
AP Macroecon
AP Calc (AB or BC)
IB Spanish
AP Bio
Extra Slot

To give a little background on myself, I don’t have TOO much going on outside of school, so there will be time for studying. I received a 33 on the ACT as a rising Junior. I am currently testing out of regular physics and pre-calc this summer due to careless scheduling during my Freshman and Sophomore years. I have only taken 1 AP before, that AP being AP English Language and comp.

It depends on the school. In our school it is pretty common for kids to take that many APs but not after testing out of the pre-requisites.

I do not know if you are able to do it or what’s your work ethic, but I would recommend taking a full year study hall because that seems to be too much going on. AP Bio takes up a lot of time with the readings and honestly I feel that any AP takes up too much time so I would recommend taking a study hall. On top of that you should decide to drop a class because you should do something outside of school and studying. Join a sport, or a club, and make sure you do take up a hobby you don’t want drive yourself up a wall and go crazy with the pressures of the workload. I think you will be fine, how well did your AP English Lang go? (P.S I am in the same boat as you since I am jumping into 3 AP’s next year too and I’ve never been in an AP before).

@CougarCatClan I ended up with a B+ in the class, but put in close to no effort to do any of the homework or busy work, seemed very easy to me.

@Dylan197 Homework is a crucial to the class; it is more important to the classwork. You might even have to find yourself to self-study; A B+ is impressive for not caring for homework. I wish you all the luck and for the IB Spanish you should look into Duolingo to keep Spanish fresh in your mind and whatnot. Have fun in Econ lol.

@CougarCatClan is econ a bad/hard class or something? Couldn’t tell if that was a sarcastic tone lol

D took AP Calc BC, AP Physics, AP Government, AP Stats and AP Literature this year. She initially wanted to take a study hall but we decided against it. To be perfectly frank it was a fairly brutal workload, harder than anything she’s likely to face in college. Is there something you can take during this Empty Slot?

@Wje9164be I still have the chance to opt out of taking ap bio and take a less strenuous course, how did she perform in these classes. Was it possible for her to maintain an A?

@Dylan197 What did you get in the AP English Lang? And I personally did not take AP Econ I know a few people who did and the LOVED the class and also AP Stats, it was just a running gag because all the people in my school who took AP Econ think they will be the next Donal Trump because the teacher encourages them to continue in Econ when they score like a 2 on the AP test lmao. I don’t know how well the teacher is in your school but I doubt you’ll have fun…but hey I think you are perfectly capable to handle this schedule. (lol yes I was being sarcastic)
I wonder how you’ll do…go Class of 2017!!

She got one B first semester in Calc BC. She ended up having to take AP Stats and AP Calc BC. She felt that the AP Stats was really just a lot of busy work, time consuming but not difficult.

@CougarCatClan I earned a b+ in ap lang with really no drive or work ethic in existance.

@Wje9164be I’m going to really try and devote my self to studying next year and hopefully that will bring out the A.

@Dylan197 I meant on the AP test on a scale to 1-5?

I didn’t take the ap test due to being absent on that week of testing. I will be taking it paired with my classes next year.

@Dylan197 That is pitiful! :frowning: Well, good luck on the test, I think you’ll get a 5 anyways!

@CougarCatClan Thanks a lot! I hope so too! Although, I’ll be taking around 5 ap tests next year :-/
