Too many classes...?

freshman 1st semester:
CS100J
MATH 231
GERST 170 FWS: Marx, Nietzsche, Freud
INFO 130 Intro Design/Programming for the Web
PSYCH 245 Psych of Social Computing

17 credits total..too much?? which class should i drop if needed? any notoriously difficult ones? i am an information science major.

i dont know because im a sophomore transfer... but at our orientation they kept reiterating the fact that 15 was a good number to aim for... no more than that... for first semester cornellians... but i have no opinion on this issue.. as i'm taking 16 myself.

not saying you can't handle it... you more than likely can with enough work eithic... but why take so many credits when there is no reason to? you can take all the classes you want in your years at cornell. what school are you in?

i'm in CALS..ehh i was thinking of taking a variety of courses within the IS major to really see if i was interested in studying it for the next four years or not. 17 credits is not too much more than 15 right, just approximately 2 more hours of work per week?

i dont know if it works out conveniently like that with regard to the hours. itll probably be more than just 2 extra hours of work a week... you have classes and then you have homework and studying and etc etc its definitely gonna be more than 2 hours. but im not saying dont do it... you can drop later on anyway. see which ones you like
