Hi!
I am a current student in a CCC. I previously attended to a vocational school (diploma) in Hong Kong for 1.5 years, but did not graduate from it… Then I enrolled to a CCC and now I am planning to transfer to a UC campus but not sure would the credit from my previous school count…
I know most UC schools would not accept a student with 80/90+ unit… But is it only talking about UC-transferable unit? Or all units in every school you have attended??
Because all the courses that I attended in Hong Kong are not in Upper Division or UC-transferable
(I know that because of the grading system is not even the same, 70%+ A; 60%+ B…)
And the total units I have in that school is over 200+…
(yeah… the unit system is completely different… one course could be 13-15 unit in that school… lol)
Please help meeeeeee…Thank you so much…
You need to go sit down with the transfer advisor at your CC, and get help with this. That person should be able to help you sort everything out.
If you have never had those foreign credits formally evaluated, it is past time to do so. A good evaluation will indicate which of the courses are equivalent to which courses in the US, and will convert the foreign credit count into a US credit count. WES.org is one organization whose evaluations are widely accepted, but you should find out if the CA system accepts their work.
I am pretty sure that all those foreign credits doesn’t equivalent to the courses in the US…Just want to know would those foreign credits affect my admission to UC?
That is a questionto take up withthe admissions office at the UC.
If you can transfer to a community college in California, do IGETC and then transfer to a UC, it may be better.
UCs will not give you more than a maximum amount of transfer credit (70 or so). If you are accepted, they will do a transfer credit evaluation and tell you what credits transfer and can be counted toward your degree. You should apply to the schools you want and then see what they tell you about tranfer credit later. No need to worry about it just yet.
