Do I have to answer all four essay questions?
If I do, how much do I have to write for each?

yeah you have to, but its NYU-they barely matter

id say 95% is based on GPA,Your Courseload, and SAT scores

Be careful with your generalizations stonecold. Essays may "barely matter" for Stern because of the heavy "numbers" focus but if your'e applying to Gallatin/CAS essays definitely matter enough to get someone rejected. When they're reading 35,000 applications, good essays stand out.

i think i got accepted because of my essay

it all depends on which college you apply to.

how long does each essay have to be?

Didn't it say maximum of 850 characters? It is for the supplement to the commonapp, I'm sure of it.

Does this mean that I could NEVER get into NYU with a 560 on my Math SATs? I am making myself sick thinking about being rejected from all the colleges to which I applied because of this stupid score.

Actually...to tell the truth...I didn't spend much time on the short response. My essay was very good (imo) but my short answers were boring. I may have gotten in on my essay but not my short response.

dont worry about that 560, go ahead and apply.

What are you guys talking about? you only have to write 1 of the 4 essays...its all 4 the short answers that you have to respond to.

he was clearly referring to short answers and not main essays...

I'm kinda confused. Short answers are the questions about what you did last sunday, why you wanna come to NYU, academic program, and activity. Right? What do you mean by 500 characters? how is that different from 500 words? and how long are your short answers?

500 characters are the spaces or letters or symbols used.

Example:

The dog ran.

Word count: 3
Characters (with spaces): 12
Characters (w/o spaces): 10

Thanks! I get it now^^

Welcome.

Best of luck with the essays.

I'm sending in a common app with supplement, and I was wondering if those extra essays matter that much (My main one is good).
