too many extracuriculars?

medical club
Parliamentarian of Key Club
Sophomore Representative in Student Council
Sophomore Representative in Vietnamese Culture Union
planning to create a Neurobiology club at school, will become President.

Am I taking too many extracurricular activites, and should I cut back on some? I just read Get Into Any College by Gen and Kelly Tanabe, and they said "There is no magic number for clubs in which you should participate, but most students we've interviewed took part in 2 to 5." The problem is, the ones in which I would have cut off are Student Council and VCU, where I am elected!

What do you guys think?

Those definitely aren’t too many. Just make sure you’re committed to each one and participate fully in them. It sounds like you’re doing this already, so keep it up.

Quality, not quantity, is what matters to colleges. There is no magic number, but there’s no such thing as “too many” either.

Thank you very much guys. I was a little worried about my number. Anybody else have input?

basically make them all as legit as possible, don’t bullsht any of them, participate as fully as possible

there is no such thing as too many EC’s. what the problem tends to be is not spending much time in your EC’s (the “qualiity” of your EC)

that’s only 5 EC’s… defintely not too many. that’s prob the norm, so don’t worry about it.
