Too many Frats?

Well, I mean, Cornellians blow me away with their coolness!! I love these people!! And hey, don't stress over the waitlist, there's always that wonderful transfer option:)!!

wow..yeah this thread makes me happy.:) drinking and stuff was like one of my biggest concerns. even if everyone else does, we have each other!:p

and goooooood luck, lehigh787!!!!!!!!!! i hope to see you in ithaca!!!

YEAH MAN!! Power to the (sober) people! hahaha

As Rod Stewart says:
"But whatever road you choose
I’m right behind you, win or lose"

now the music quiz of the day, what song is this from? muahaha.

forever young? (i can hear it in my head)

Nice job man, that was fast! I love that song. I saw him in concert this past summer and I got chills during the guitar solo. hahaha, I'm a music nerd, and I love it! lol.

Nice job quynh! You're a guy right? cuz if you weren't I'd ask ya to marry me, lol... I need someone with good taste in music.

"I'm a music nerd, and I love it!"

Amen! lol.

Well, I got back from Cornell today...the people were awesome and every single person I met in the area was really friendly, even the weather was nice.......but I need more cowbell ehem city! I don't think upstate NY is the right atmosphere for me, I'm startin to realize that I want a smaller college with more stuff going on outside...maybe closer to home too, I know that might sound dumb but I love NJ. If I was into engineering or hotel management I think Cornell'd be great and worth the ruralness, but I'm not. Anyway, I'll probably still hang around this board just for the hell of it, because you're all cool too. I'm just the board bum/hippie.

The ice cream IS really good though.

Ahaha yes! The Cornell Dairy ice cream is legendary! I must try it someday when I actually visit The Hill...

LOL ya know what, guys? We should get together and eat ice cream there until we get sick instead. No hangovers and still deliriously fun... whahey! :)

maybe stanford?

Isn't Stanford in California?....that ain't for me either.

sorry i missed the closer to home part.

approximately what percentage of cornellians drink alcohol? 30% are frat or sor. so I venture to guess at least 30% cornell students drink alcohol. I heard the lengendary ice cream too and how cornell's food is top 5 from all colleges. I 'd rahter hit the 8 ALL YOU CAN EAT halls and stuff myself to oblivion than drinking myself to death.

honestly, I'd say easily above 70% (at least social drinking)

^^ Ditto...

enjoying drinking isn't the same as drinking yourself to death. cornell has a survey with that stat somewhere i do believe

exactly, I'd say that much less drink to the point of passing out, or whatever.

First of all, I dont have anything against drinking moderately.

Besides, What's so bad about pledging to a frat house? The only bad things i can think of is all the alcohol and the fact that going through the rushing process is like tackling with another class at cornell. I wouldn't mind the alcohol once I hit age 21, but i sure don't want to tackle on another class worth of work!

Frats can do really crazy things to their pledges. One of my neighbors and closest friends here pledged to a co-ed frat....and she had to do the most RIDICULOUS things, do weird secret oaths and stuff like that....in the end, she was almost completely changed, and it was only a 6 week process. Frats are a lot more then just alcohol.

i'm a girl...and although my boyfriend does have a fantasy of a 3some with another guy (loooong story) I don't think i'm ready for that... ^_^

i love songs from awhile ago, my favorite singer is actually ella fitzgerald (plus the fact that she was singing for 60 years just blows me away). heart and soul just warms my...well, you know.

wow, sorry quynh! Major misunderstanding! I think it was the "you'll meet more girls" post on the Why Cornell? thread...lol... I don't feel the need to fulfill your boyfriend's (WOOPS!) "fantasy." I'll just leave it at this...

I was very suprised how quickly you responded to the "quiz." I love music, and when someone else shares that, I get really excited, because It's such a part of me. Didn't mean to embarass you (though I think I caught the brunt of that one...), and I'm sorry if I did. I hope everything with your boyfriend is going well!

to me, it seems everyone's a music junkie...or maybe it's just all the ipods i see everyone wearing...i'm not into a lot of rap, metal, or even emo, but eveything else seems to be fair game!
