Too Many Matches and Safeties?

I've been recently finalizing my college list, and it seems as though I am very low on reaches. Take a look at my credentials and list, and tell me what you think.

Extremely competitive private school
UW/W GPA: 3.78/4.13
SAT: 2170
10 APs by end of senior year
Good ECs

So far I have:

Reaches: Penn, Georgetown
Matches: BU, Northeastern, GW, Villanova, NYU
Safeties: Temple, Drexel, Pitt

what is your major going to be?

Either Economics or International Relations with an emphasis on International Economics.

Well, it’s never a bad thing to have too many safeties/matches…but i think you could probably chop off drexel and temple because you will probably end up getting into all the ones you listed except penn and g-town. But as far as penn and g-town go, you never know, i would apply ED to penn if it’s your first choice.

Temple and Drexel stay for financial reasons. If my FA package isnt very large at any of my match schools, I’ll probably end up at one of those 2.

You could add Tufts and if willing to go away from the East Coast, Northwestern.

How are Temple and Drexel gonna help you financially? Both are expensive prviate schools that doesn’t offer extremely competative financial aid.

edit: stupid me, didn’t know Temple is public

Temple is public. Tuition for in-state students is under $12k.

Drexel’s standards for scholarships put me near the top, and based on the history of alumni from my high school who attended Drexel, it’s very likely I will get a scholarship.

If you like all those schools and are willing to attend them then there is no reason to remove any in the match/safety categories.

Why do people always assume we’re a private school? We have 30,000 students. Ugh.

i would add several more reaches. (Tufts, McGill, and Colgate maybe

You don’t need reaches, regardless of what most people on CC will tell you. The most important thing is that you would like to attend and can afford to attend every school on your list. Selectivity should only ever be an issue when you’re forming the list itself; you should make sure you have a good enough chance of getting admitted to at least a couple schools on your list (i.e. safeties are more important than reaches). If you’re happy with your list, don’t let anyone else pressure you into applying to schools you wouldn’t like to attend.

Based on your stats and interests , you should consider Wake Forest.
FA could be a problem there.
