Too Many Reaches? (CS)

My updated list contains:
Emory University

Lehigh University
Northeastern University
Santa Clara University
Tufts University
University of Southern California
Washington University in St. Louis

Wesleyan University
Boston University
Case Western Reserve
University of Michigan
University of Washington
UIUC
UMass
UCLA, UCB, UCI, UCSD, UCSB (maybe, I might not even apply to UC’s)

Any suggestions?

re: do you still need UC safeties… You need at least one school on your list that is an admission AND financial safety (where you 100% know that its affordable). Have you run NPC for each of these schools with real numbers? Have you looked at the composition of the FA packages to see what you will be responsible for on top of your family’s EFC? Do you have a plan to pay for that?

@juko10

What attracts you to Tufts, USC, WUSTL, and Emory?

Run the NPC for UIUC and UMass? What about UMich and UVa?

And CC+transfer isn’t a bad safety option for a CA resident.

Have you run the net price calculator on every school on your list?

Most out of state publics will not be affordable if you have substantial financial need.

It looks like your safety option will be community college, since you do not seem to like or want to apply to any four year schools that may be safeties.

@ucbalumnus @PurpleTitan @flatKansas Yes, I have run the NPC and can afford it.

The worst situation would be a rejection to all colleges–I would probably just do CC + transfer then.
