I’m in a bit of a predicament. I already asked three teachers for recommendation letters for Brown University and am saving the fourth one that is required for a college professor I worked with over the summer (and I already asked him).
I was hesitant asking one of my teachers at the beginning of the year for a recommendation letter since he is suffering from a serious illness, but he assured me that he is able to and would be happy to write me a strong letter of rec. This teacher knows me a lot better than the physics teacher I already asked who has submitted their recommendation letter to the university.
My physics teacher has already submitted his recommendation letter to most of the colleges I am applying to including Brown, but Brown is my top choice, and I would like to have the strongest rec letters as possible, especially in science, since I am applying to Brown’s PLME program. Is there any way to retract the letter of recommendation my physics teacher already sent in from just Brown and replace it with my other science teacher’s recommendation?
"You will only be able to remove a recommender if the form has not been submitted. Once your recommender submits the online form, the recommendation is locked with your application."
"...the Common Application organization must reiterate the policy that documents cannot be retrieved or edited once submitted."
Recommenders: You can contact the student to have them remove your assignment to any school besides the school named in your letter. You may also contact the school to find out if they will accept another letter sent directly to them. There is no way to retract it once it is submitted.
My note to you:
(Note that “another letter sent directly to them,” refers to the editing of a recommendation by the same teacher wherein the teacher has found the need to edit the original. It does not refer to substituting a recommendation letter from one teacher for that of another.)
