Too many retakes?

How many times have you guys taken the ACT?

I've taken it four times, not counting a seventh grade talent search test, and I have sent all four to the same four colleges.

June of Sophomore year: 25
December of Junior year: 31
June of Junior year: 32
September of Senior year: Hopefully 33+

How many times is too many times? What do colleges think of multiple retakes?

3 times so far.

fool...why did you send all of them?

Well...the first two times I really wasn't thinking...and I really didn't plan on retaking the third, but I changed my mind. Oh well. At least my score hasn't lowered.

Once. And that's all that I'll ever take.

(June '07, junior year).

Don't let ANYONE tell you retaking many times is being obsessive (unless you have a 35 and are going for a 36, or something).

If you don't mind spending some Saturday mornings and the $40 or so dollars each time, it is well worth it.

I think colleges are generally understanding of retakes, although I would only submit your top score or two. This freedom of choice is why the ACT is better than the SAT! :)
