I am a sophomore at UC Davis looking to transfer to another UC. I am currently a sophomore and will have 95 UC Davis units by the end of summer. I also have 40 units from my local CC. I was planning on taking another 35 units at my local CC and then attempting to transfer to either UCSD, UCLA, or Cal.

You are ineligible to transfer because you will have more than 90 UC units before you make the intended transfer. You were supposed to apply this cycle. UCSD, UCLA, and Cal will consider application at all; UCI will. It’s still going to be competitive to get into UCI though.

The only way this transfer will happen is if you drop out of UCD before you hit that 90 unit cap. However, if you have missing pre-requisites for competitive majors…such as Biology for example, it is unlikely that you will be admitted. UCD will allow you to reinstate yourself later on in case you fail to transfer.

I suggest that you just finish your degree at UCD.

I wish I could send you a pm, because I also attended a four year and was told that UCLA wouldn’t consider my application (by UCLA Admissions Officers too). Not true. I got my acceptance package a few days ago. PM me if you get the chance.

Certain units from some 4-year schools (e.g. CSU’s) are not transferable to the UC’s and will not count towards the unit cap. All units from within the UC system are transferable between campuses though.

Thanks for the info. I would like to clarify that I will have 95 quarter units, not semester units, from UCD. From what it seems, having under ~80 semester units (or 120 quarter units) from a 4-year university and then remaining exclusively at a CC would qualify me for admission for at least UCLA, Cal, and UCI? Correct me if I am wrong.

^I’m sorry I was mistaken. You can more than 90 quarter units as long as you do not attain Senior standing…that’s what I meant. I don’t know off the top of my head what number that is but it should be similar to what you are saying. Since you are planning to go to a CC you should be fine. Change 90 ~> 120 or w/e and my post still applies. I was going off the assumption that you are planning to attend UCD full time next year and attending CC in the summer (stupid cause I should’ve known by you saying 35 units LOL).

My counselor told me I’ll have 92 CC transferable semester units by this end of spring but I’ll be fine as a junior transfer. I listed every classes correctly so they have an idea of what I already took and still accepted me (UCLA, Berkeley, UCSD, etc…) I am pretty sure that they will only allow 60 semester units transfer to their system and discard what I do not need for my major.

Never mind, I was freaking out that my counselor was wrong
