I am planning on transferring to UC, but I already have like 4-6 W’s, so I’m scared now. Most of my W’s I got was from first year because I couldn’t balance my class. But somehow I heard UC’s not really care about W’s, is that true?
I had 3 F’s and 1 D as my first grades at a community college. I retook them all and got grades like 2 B’s and 2 A’s. During the next 2-3 years I was at a CC, I got many W’s. I think I had 5…? I even had 2 during the final semester when applying to UCI, UCLA, UCR, etc. It didn’t matter. Even when I updated my application and let the counselors know I dropped 2 courses during my last, and final, semester.
I got into all of the UCs I applied to.
Thanks. I am admitted to UCSC and I just dropped a course w/ a W so I’m afraid they will cancel my admission. May I ask when did you apply for the UC’s? So you were saying that even dropping a course after admitting wasn’t a big deal? When I try to fill out the form, there is a comment section below, so I assume we have to explain why we dropped the class?
@BurntCorpse Also I heard it depends on what class you dropped, right?
This is a month late, but I think this was about 1 month before admission notices were being sent out. The courses I dropped were major pre-requisites for UCI, but I still got in, so I don’t think it matters what courses you drop unless it’s math, writing, or one of the CORE courses needed to transfer to a 4 year (aside from math and writing, I think a language course is needed to transfer, so dropping that would pretty much ruin your chances of transferring).
