I am going to be a senior next year and am going to take on the following APs:

APs w/ class:

Chem (w/ 5 steps and CliffsAP)
Biology (w/ 5 steps and CliffsAP)
Macro/Micro (w/ 5 steps)
Physics C: Mechanics (w/ Princeton Review)
Calculus AB (w/ Princeton Review but I am considering switching to BC)

Self Study:

Statistics (w/ Barrons)
Psychology (w/ Barrons)
Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism (w/ Princeton Review but I am not sure if I should do this)

*On a side note: I never took a physics class but I already read some of the basics you would learn in 1st semester HS Physics. I am a pretty strong Math student.

Taking all 3 AP sciences in one year sounds a bit crazy to me, why did you wait for senior year to get them all in? But, if you really show an inclination towards science and make it clear in your application I think you should be good. Or, you could drop one of the sciences and switch to AP Calc BC, looks a lot better than AB. What Honors (if any)/normal classes are you taking in addition to your AP’s?

Yeah and taking all 3 sciences is crazy. Your going to kill yourself; AP Bio alone is going to be stress (speaking from expierence). I think if you must take 8 APs, atleast drop a science and something else. There’s nothing wrong with taking 6.

Will you get credit for psychology or statistics at the colleges you want to attend? If not, then there is absolutely no reason for you to self-study for them. Oh, and you’re going to hate self studying for E&M.

I agree with the rest that taking all 3 sciences at the same time will be very difficult. Getting a 5 in one is hard enough, and I think your scores will suffer from taking that many. In addition, since you’re a senior, your scores probably won’t be graded before you submit your application.

Having experience with a few of those classes, I think you can safely switch to BC, since you say you’re good at math. Also, I would drop a science class, as well as E&M. With that, you might have a fighting chance with the rest of the APs if you’re a really good student.

Edit: I’m also interested in knowing what previous experience you have with APs. Care to share?

Physics (both C’s) is difficult in general. I got my lowest scores in Physics.

Actually, taking all 3 Sciences would prove very difficult. If you’re good at analyzing stuff, then Bio would be hard for you. If you’re the opposite, then Chem and Physics would be hard. Keep in mind that the 4 Science exams are all administered within 2 consecutive days (and I don’t think they change the schedule every year). You’re going to burn yourself out doing 6+ hrs of AP on one day then another 3 hrs the next day. Wait… actually, Psychology is also on the same day of Chem, so you’ll be writing 6+ hrs of AP exams 2 days in a row, which is quite impossible (unless you want to spend extra money paying for late exam dates).

And I’m also wondering whether you’ve taken AP’s before… are you planning to apply to a top college? And what program are you thinking of going into?
