too much for a freshmen?

Hey

First semester:
chem1a w/ stacy
math1a w/ agol
polisci5 w/ gurowitz
chinese1ax w/staff

15 units total. or i could go with sociology1 with swidler and/or classics10a with Mastronarde instead of polisci and/or chinese.

too taxing? any reason to avoid a certain class/prof?

please comment!

thanks!

Sounds like a good schedule.

Reasonable, especially if you've had some calculus already and/or taken AP chemistry. If calculus is brand new for you and you haven't taken AP chemistry, though, I would lighten the load to give more time to devote to those two classes.

hmm...

now, what about this:
chem1a
math1a
mcb32 (physiology)
mcb55 (plagues and pandemics)
chinese1ax

total of 17. the undergrad mcb courses seem really cool, but im not sure if then my sched would be too science heavy.

can anyone attest to the difficulty of UG MCB courses and chinese 1ax?

though the unit total sounds normal-ish, you have 5 classes. this would be a bit much for a first semester freshman, though it is definitely doable. if i were you, i would go for the first schedule you posted, or something similar to it with only 4 classes. chinese1ax, though only 3 units, is quite a bit of busy work each week, and thus it kind of disguises itself in terms of units. make sure to take this into account when planning your schedule.
