too much? Junior classes...

So I have been messing with my schedule endlessly...

AP Calc
APUSH
AP English 11
AP Physics
Genetics/ Psychology
Spanish III
Marching band/ wind ensemble

And doing XC... No free period?!? This is my first year allowed to take AP... will I need a free?
(1/273, 4.0)

I am used to a lot of classes... just not with AP (I have never taken a study hall/ free) My question is if I am setting myself up to die?

I think it’s nice that you’re challenging yourself. It’s all about the effort. But no free period?! That’s going to be a bit hard in my opinion.

My schedule’s pretty similar to yours I had:
AP Calc BC
AP Physics B
AP English Lang
AP US History
AP Gov
Honors Chinese

and I’m a very committed soccer player. I somehow managed to pull through though (currently ranked 1/600 =) ) , and so can you! Good luck

My school has no free periods, and I’ve taken 5 AP-or-harder classes this year, and intend on taking 6 next year while playing football. if you’re expecting a 4.0, you may find yourself very very stressed out, but if you’re willing to take a B or two, that courseload is certainly manageable. Be wary of Calc and Physics, however. they are often considered the hardest courses.

I did four APs this year with no free periods and it really wasn’t too bad, but I’m not sure how hard AP Physics and AP English are. You will be stressed out with this courseload and it will be tough to keep up at times, but I think you should keep this schedule as long as you’re okay with possibly getting Bs in some of these classes.

Hmm… I want to go MIT or cornell…? If I get a B, will I still have a chance? Do they look at weighted or unweighted?

Even if you’re going to take such a hard courseload, try to get straight A’s

Per my S, AP English Language was a breeze. APUSH was less of a challenge than AP Euro. AP Calc (he had C, the tougher version ) was his hardest challenge yet. This from a kid who took AP Calc BC as a sophomore (5 on the test) and took an online Linear Algebra course this year, carrying an A.

I will try to get straight A’s of course… but if it turns out too hard I will drop genetics.

Of course you can get in to MIT with Bs. I know someone who got in EA with a 3.7, and I’m sure that people get in with significantly lower. That situation isn’t uncommon at all. Their median GPA isn’t a 4.0, you know.

When you read stuff on CC, you realise that you don’t need a 4.0 #1 ranking to get in to these schools, and that such achievements are not guarantees at all.

The fact that your school offers a free period at all…o__o I’d like that. I’m taking 8 classes next year, all IB except for JROTC. This year was the same. And I’m fine; it wasn’t difficult.

I’m sorry if it sounds like I’m bragging - I don’t mean to - but if you organize your time and pay a lot of attention in AP Physics, it’s all right.

lol I took 6 AP classes and 7 AP tests this year as a junior and still managed to get 1st place in Science Bowl regionals, 1st place in Westmont Math comp. 1st place in the CCEE Capital markets contest (orange county), 1st place in California State Economics Challenge contest, 2nd place in West Regional Economics challenge, and participated in National science bowl 2009. I think your 4 AP’s are doable
