Hi. I'm trying to write an essay right now, and I am torn between two essays on two different topics. I have been HEAVILY involved in genocide intervention and the save darfur movement (Lobbying in D.C., state co-ordinator for a campaign, creating events, etc.) , and I am considering doing an essay on that for the "Cause I believe in and why" prompt. Is this too cliche? And could anyone write an essay about that?
The second one is about a "Person that influenced you and how"
I know it's a stretch, but one of my most meaningful and life shaping experiences has been as a trainee on a tall ship. I was going to compare it to a living breathing organism, a miniature model of the world. Is this too much?
Thank you!
P.S. my essay is for an institution that is focused on international tolerance, and world peace.

Normally I would say yes – very cliche, however since you can back it up with personal experiences and not 'OMG genocide is bad ‘cause people die’ – I’d say go for it.
