I am 24yrs old just transferring to a University that has a stellar BFA program. I have theatre experience and I am currently enrolled as BA with the high interest into changing my major. My only insecurity is my age. Do you think I’m too old to audition? Help. Also Im looking into auditioning for other schools as well.
Absolutely not! I found that the students who entered my BFA program at a slightly later age did so with the strength and confidence of their life experience, and it made them early leaders who carried themselves with advanced emotional intelligence. You might feel a bit awkward at first, but as you and your classmates get to know each other, everyone will forget about the age difference.
I’d say the one real, lasting difference was when it came to casting. The older students would not typically be cast as very young characters, like teens or younger, because their classmates were much closer to those characters’ actual ages. Don’t be discouraged by your age at all!
