Too perfect?

Well ok, in all the years that passed I had an average of around 96-97%
I just got my grades for the first semester first quarted, and really, I worked my ass off this semester, and well I got 100%, I'm afraid colleges will think my school is really easy, how will they know?
I'm an international student, and I'm pretty sure they arent really familiar with the schools here. But I'm just freaked out, cause it just looks fake haha, will they just assume my schoool is easy? I rank in the top 10%, probably I rank 1st, but our school only says top 10%, doesnt rank people. So help!

A 100 percent...sorry...on the surface it sounds like grade inflation...you never ever did anything wrong ever?

If it's backed up by good SATs, I would not worry.

Nothing as "too perfect" in the college admissions process ;)

After all, this is your time to brag, shine, and flatter yourself to the extent of your ability.

100% definitely screams grade inflation. Even the smartest kids aren't expected to have grades like that.

you'll definitely need good scores to back it up.

u got a 100% in every class??....i dont know how to respond to that

It's just one quarter that he got 100%; he's not claiming 100% all through high school, so I don't think it's going to set off any alarm bells. At least not if, as worth2try says, it's backed up by an SAT score that validates the level of achievement. Essays and recommendations will also demonstrate the kind of work you're capable of.

If you're taking the most rigorous curriculum at your school, that's all you can do. Just enjoy the good result this quarter and don't overthink it.

going from 97 to what looks like perfect- no errors, no typos, no wrong answers? that is just not believable if the curriculum is tough

"No typos"

Validity in educational measurement means that assessments measure what they are supposed to measure. Taking off points for typos is really grading typing, not the academic subject. A teacher who strives for validity isn't going to take off for an occasional typo unless he or she is teaching typing...or the typos are so many that they indicate a failure to complete the proofreading part of the assignment or are a barrier to communication.

Colleges don't even see the 100%; they just see the A, which is perfectly fine.

most teachers don't but some, IE english teachers may

getting a 100 in each and every class, come on, no mistakes ever? because that is what it implies

every answer in history was perfect, every paper was perfect, ever presentation was perfect....every lab was perfect....every math problem was perfect....sureeeee....show me that and I will show you lazy teachers...and it just looks funny...the OP asked....

I see it as odd....sorry...to get 100 on each and everything done somes to show inflation of grades...a couple of 100, a 98, a 97 is much more likely

It just looks, frankly, bizarre...I am sure the student got the scores, but no student never ever errors...

Maybe people here aren't as familiar with foreign schools. Tests are often more fact/numbers driven and students often do nothing but memorize, memorize, memorize. So yes 100% is very possible and not odd, and no top schools won't say "well we like students who have pretty high scores, but not too high." That doesn't make any sense. So to answer your question it's fine, you're worrying for no reason.

vicissitudes, thank you! yeah, thats exactly how it is here.
Well, my school is really hard, and its not very uncommon to get a 100% at my school but at other schools is relatively easy. But the thing my SAT scores arent the best, because I've never studied english at school. I go to an all arabic school, so SAT doesnt really show my abilities. All the english I speak is beacuse my family have taught me English, Arabic, and French since I was little. Anyway, yes, my essays, recs, and ECs will back up everyting to show I'm a qualified applicant, but my SATs will just show my school is easy which it isnt. I worked my ass off this whole semester, I highly doubt I'll be able to keep it 100%, but I don't know, I'm just confused and really freaked out it'll turn into disadvantage...hmm...

I have a 98% cumulative GPA from 9-12th grade and believe me, my school isn't like you get automatic 90's or anything. This was with all honors and AP, so you can imagine what kind of effort I had to exert to get to this point.

As someone said SAT would back the grades up. My peers are frantically studying for their midterm exams, because some of their SAT scores just didn't shine and they really want their exam grades to look good. I have less pressure on my back because mine were fine. If your other stuff is good enough then obviously you have the credentials to get in. As for your testing, I'm sure the schools will realize that English isn't your first language and such and be somewhat lenient on it.

I would say not to worry. I think it will just convert to As anyways. Most colleges put more weight on rank and SATs. It is just too bad you don't have a rank (if it is 1), but top decile is good.

I am kind of in the same situation. I took 45 credits from the defense language institute while I was in the military and got a 4.0. I am afraid not many people know about this place and assume it must be way easy, when in fact it is the most intensive language school in the country, maybe world. The average gpa was 3.0 but I would say 1 in 4 wash out completely. I worked harder than anyone I knew. Homework wasn't graded, but we took about 4 tests a month. I rarely got 1 question wrong on a test. My transcript looks like a joke. It is just a long column of As. A couple of my friends have come to the same conclusion that it might have looked better to have a few A- or a B. Oh, well.

I guess it is stupid to complain about good grades. Does anyone have any suggestions? Incidentley, I was studdying Arabic at DLI and that is what I wish to study at a university now.

Does the military have any kind of profile or statistical information they can send along with your transcript to place your accomplishment in context? (I apologize if that was a naive question). Otherwise, maybe you get one of your recommenders to address the issue in the letter.

I'm also going to send a wish your way that any school with an Arabic language program strong enough to attract you will know how to evaluate the DLI transcript.

Yes, if you have the SAT scores to back you up, then don't worry. But if you don't - then you may be in a bad situation.

The last time I got a 100 in every class was in the 1st grade, haha.
