hmm why does columbia only ask for pics and not other schools?..(btw i find the pic deal a cool idea)

upenn asks.

hey, my picture was stupid too. i wanted to make it CREATIVE, but it turned out to be RETARDED. but i don't care, it's being sent anyways.

Brown asks too. I was actually thinking about sending my senior picture to every single I applied to but then I decided against it b/c (1) senior pictures were freaking expensive (2) I only ordered 8 wallets for the picture I was planning to send in and that's not enough to cover every school (3) if I get rejected, I'm gonna be ****ed knowing that I wasted my pictures.

mine was just my senior picture - so i guess its kinda formal

i scanned my wallet size senior picture and printed it...the quality's not great but at least its a pic

i sent in a picture i took on my phone. it's the one on the right at the bottom of this page:

still not working, huh? this sucks. um, i'll just put the goddamn link on my profile.

haha, i'll be honest and say that the pic may be a bad idea. They do ask for one, so I would include it, but...I've read things over the past few years (from this website, college guidebooks, etc.) that said sometimes the pictures actually play factor in the admissions, i.e. someone incredibly attractive may have an edge over someone not on the same "beauty level." yeah, it sounds incredibly superfiicial, but I'm just saying I've read that multiple places, hehe

anyhoo, I doubt any of the texts I read had much credibility because how could a college stoop to such superficial means. however, it could be a factor since perhaps someone's good pic makes the admissions officer subconsciously remember him/her if the officer likes something unique about the person's appearance. now that's something that is entirely possible.

for my pic, I found the most formal, yet informal, one I could find. Not a suit, tie, or anything but a formal-ish shirt. It's like the shirt you'd wear with a tie but only the shirt with my sleeves rolled up. Ppl sometimes wear those shirts to look more formal but in an informal setting. so yea, I used that pic and was sitting in some Japanese garden from when my family went to Vancouver. So, if anything, I would try to choose a pic with a nice background, too :)
