Too top heavy?

Hey everyone. I feel like I have to start one of these threads. I was planning on doing Yale EA.. until an hour ago, when I realized there' s no way I'd be able to finish the CSS profile + perfect my essays by Tuesday. I was planning on getting deferred, anyway. Here are my stats/schools:

South Asian Male
Rank 1/400 something at high school in suburbs of NYC
SAT: 2250 (720M,760CR,770W) - possibly retake since my math sux0rs
SATII: 730 bio, 750 ush (taking math IIC in Nov)
ACT: took last saturday, though i had no idea *** i was doing
GPA: 100.6 something, weighted
Toughest courseload, except I couldn't take language cause of sched. conflicts. My GC is writing that in the rec. Also, 8 APs by graduation (5s on world hist, bio, us hist, 3 on eng lang, 4 on chem, currently taking lit, physics, bc calc) with 2 dual enrollment classes (economics + psychology through syracuse univ)

ECs:
science olympiad captain 12
model congress pres 12, member 9-12
NHS VP 12, 11-12
math league 11-12
math HS treasurer 12, 9-12
music (trumpet) since 4th grade, all districts/county orchestras, no all state
Founder of islamic center youth group

research (submitted to westinghouse, didn't make semis, but might have a chance with the other comps)

other stuff:
teacher recs should be really nice
rockefeller summer science outreach program last summer.. it's supposed to be fairly competitive.. 1/5 accepted or something, not sure

awards:
none! .. or barely any:
NM Commended
AP Scholar w/ Distinction
First place math league for county, made states but didnt go cause of school musical (don't regret it at all, we did aida.. i was in the pit)
community scholarship winner
possibly some research awards, but I dunno yet. I was sort of disappointed that I didn't make semis in westinghouse, but then I realized the projects that win are amazing

oh yeah, edit: i know it doesn't seem like my ecs are too focused, mainly since i like a lot of stuff. i'm in a few other things, but to sum it up, i like science and math (surprise surprise) and writing. in model congress, i've always been in science committees at conferences, and when I have a science column at the school newspaper. oh yeah, I'm organizing a math scavenger hunt. that's not really relevant, but I'm excited about it, so I thought I'd mention it.

ok, that was really long. Anyway, here are the colleges I'm looking into:

Brown (will apply for PLME, but I'd really like to go even if I'm not accepted)
Columbia (brother went here, dad does research = tuition benefits)
Duke
Yale
Harvard
Johns Hopkins
U Mich
Tufts
SUNY Binghamton

I'm looking to go into bio, possibly research or even med school after college. I'd like a school with a strong music program too. anyone know of any more (that have neat architecture too, like Yale!) that I'd be able to get into (hopefully..)? Sorry for all the words, and thanks for any help !

Forget the CSS and get your app in. Yale takes half of the class from the EA pool. If you want in, apply now.

I agree with Bandit, (hi Bandit, how's L?)

Since the admissions process is need blind, not having the css profile in by nov.1 is not going to affect your being admitted. complete your essays and throw your hat in the ring.

You already know that you have a top heavy list so I am not going to evaluate chances. I will provide you with the link to an interesting article - Recipie for Success that gave some insight to the admissions process at williams

happy reading and all the best

thanks for the article sybbie, and thanks a lot both of you for your advice. if i apply to Y, then should I just not request financial aid? or should i request fin aid and just not have my fin aid stuff in. thanks for the advice, i really appreciate your help :)

If you need aid, apply for aid. The CSS profile is processed through the college board so Yale is not going to get it from them on Nov. 1 (they will be a little flexible because your award letter will not come out until April).
