I just got my SAT scores back: 740 math, 730 writing, 660 critical reading. 2130 overall. Should I retake it to get a more balanced score? If I do retake it and still have this gap, how will it affect me? Finally, is this a strong score for most college apps?

it’s not unbalanced. don’t retake just to balance, but perhaps to improve by 100 points. it’s a good score for most colleges. 2200+ would make it a great score.

I was unbalanced (770M, 740W, 640CR), and I still got into my top college choice (UCLA). Your retaking really depends on what schools you are applying to.
Also, did you take the ACT? I found that my ACT was a lot more balanced because there was no “critical reading” kind of section, and that is where my weakness is. I sent my ACT to more schools than the SAT because I was just more pleased with the balance of it.

I was extreamly unbalanced M760 CR 550 W640

My score is quite unbalanced too: I got 760 M 730 CR 660 W. I wonder whether retaking the sat would help me in the admission process or not…
