Took ACT twice but only did the writing on my lower score. Is that OK?

I took the ACT two times. The first time I got a composite of 27 but a 10 on the writing. Since I was happy with my writing score, I took the ACT again without the writing and got a 32. Since I'm planning on sending both ACTs, is it okay that the higher score which is what colleges will look at doesn't have the writing score because I was under the impression that they look at composite and writing separately. Thanks! :)

Many colleges require ACT w/writing, many don’t. Those that require writing have generally not said what they will do if you submit one with writing, and thus meet requirement, and one without. Thus, whether your one without writing will even be considered at all in that situation is an unknown for most colleges and the only way to find out is to contact the college. One I am aware of that you will use your ACT w/o writing, if it has the higher composite, when you submit another ACT w/writing is UIUC.
