Took MSU to take 2 weeks to decide. rejected?

A decision was made on Wednesday, December 02, 2009. An official letter was mailed to you. Admission decisions are not provided over the telephone. Decision letters are mailed to applicants and typically take 7-10 business days to receive.

well all my stuff was received on the nov. 19th and took MSU about 2 weeks to decide.
i got rejected huh? or accepted?

3.38
1860 SAT
lots of ecs.

Oh I see, well you could be deferred. But who knows maybe its a acceptance. I’m not sure if MSU rejects ER applicatioins.

Holy hell, there is no rhyme or reason to MSU decision timing. Just because there is a decision quickly or slowly means NOTHING. Just wait 7-10 days and you’ll know for sure.

^agreed…

thanks guys. and DAAAAAANNG calm down romanigypsyeyes. No wonder nobody likes you in this forum xD

It’s actually just like 3 people that don’t like me, but whatever. And this same thread has been posted about 6 times in the last two weeks, it just gets really annoying.

LOL im sorry romanigypsyeyes just a little bit stressed about getting accpeted to MSU thats all haha. And LOL i just read posts and always see u and somebody argueing haha.

I understand you are stressed. I am too (finals week), and I sometimes come on here while angry and tend to come off a bit brasher than I mean to (pit falls of the internet). I didn’t mean to attack you or come off as attacking, it was just slightly annoying is all.

And I’m not ALWAYS fighting with someone lol. I just tend to get jumped on a lot because I don’t think MSU is a cakewalk like a lot of people do (from personal experience). I share the same opinion as many others on here, but people only attack me because I am one of the most active posters. Oh well ^.^

LOL i c. well i’m from washington state and my point of view is MSU is a competitive school? but what i’ve been told its not? or its like a party school? So whats ur opinion ^^

MSU IS a competitive school. It is also a party school, to some extent. We have a “work hard, party hard” attitude. However, we are no longer the top party school in the state, that’s for sure, and we are becoming much more selective in admissions. People that would have been shoe-ins even 5-10 years ago (3.0 GPA, 25 ACT) are finding themselves denied admission. There is an increasing trend in Michigan to reject UMich in favor of MSU for a variety of reasons, and MSU is becoming a much more attractive school to in-staters and out-of-staters as it rises in selectivity. I am one of those that chose MSU over UMich, not something I thought I would EVER do.

Part of the major reason that MSU is becoming a very attractive school to people is because of its residential colleges. Very few other colleges have the resources to have multiple, extensive residential colleges like MSU has.

Sorry, kind of rambling. More specific questions I could answer  lol.

well as you know that MSU decided on my app in 2 weeks. idk if my stats are good enough haha. I really want to go to MSU but stressed that they will reject me?

They don’t tend to reject people… they defer or accept. Honestly, your GPA is on the low end and you applied semi-late, but your SATs are nice. It’s kind of a toss up, I wouldn’t be surprised either way. The deciding in 2 weeks means nothing. It just means that’s when they got to it. My guess would be that they are working double time right now to get as many decisions out before break right now so you might have just lucked out getting it so quickly.

so… getting a deffered is a bad thing? haha sorry im a noob

Getting deffered is not a great thing, but it’s not a terrible thing either. They deffer a lot of borderline people and then wait to see how your senior grades are. If your senior grades are really good, you get accepted. If your grades stay the same or drop off, you most likely will get rejected. It’s kind of their way of making sure borderline people stay focused IMO lol.

My niece got the same letter you got. MSU does not email the acceptance. They send you the email that a decision was made and then they snail mail the acceptance. She got the acceptance letter in two days. I would be very surprised if you don’t get in with a 3.4/1860. At worst they will defer you. They defer a lot of people and accept them after other people decide not to go. Some people get accepted right before school starts. They also accept people for January term and ask them to go somewhere else for the fall term. Whether MSU is a competitive school or a party school will depend on who you ask, what you compare it to and what courseload you choose.

LOLOLOL i got accepted LOL just open my letter hahaha. Senioritis here i come!!! jk. but luckily i didnt get deffered

Congrats. Don’t slack off lol.

Yeah congrats,
