At my current school I took a 1200 level statistics class and a 1400 level political science class my first semester. I’m thinking about transferring to Fordham where there is a core of a 1000 level math and 1000 level political science… are they going to make me take these classes at a lower level typically or will they take those credits for the core classes? I know Fordham is really strict about their core requirements, but have any transfer students on here been in this situation?
And I don’t have AP credits for these classes, but I switched into arts late and just got put into random classes
Yes, if you transfer, and your previous course work does not give you transfer credit for the new school’s general education requirements, you will have to take them at the new school before graduation.
The only people who can answer this with any certainty, are the people in the transfer admissions office at Fordham. Contact them and ask. Usually for credit transfer, the content of the course is what matters, not the numbers in front of the course name. So hang onto everything related to the classes you are taking. Syllabi, textbooks, graded assignments, etc. you might need that in order to demonstrate what topics were covered in the classes.
