<p>OK, you're a Top 10% so you're in. Does the AO even bother reading your essay or your ECs, or do they forward your application over to your major department and let them take it from there? Is your essay going to make or break getting into your specific college, honors program or getting that hoped for scholarship? Or if it's not the essay, what are these folks looking for at that point? Or do they just know you through their own particular application?</p>

<p>Thanks, that’s what I thought. I would assume it’s that much more important to slant your essay toward your department.</p>
<p>If you are top ten and want to get in undeclared you don’t have to write an essay as far as I’m aware. I was accepted last year before I submitted my essays.</p>
