And one of the things that many beautiful campuses have in common is that they were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted (or, his sons), the famous landscape architect who designed Central Park in NYC.

Olmsted-designed campuses include Cornell, Trinity C., Stanford, Smith, Washington U, Bryn Mawr, Mount Holyoke, Vassar, Brown, U Chicago, Williams, Johns Hopkins, Haverford, Duke, Notre Dame, U Washington, Fairleigh Dickinson (Florham campus), Linfield, Pacific U, Oregon State, Colgate (lower campus), Florida (Plaza of the Americas), Denison, Manhantanville, and many more----over 300 school and college campuses designed by the Olmsteds.

Ok, I know UConn is huge, but the campus looks beautiful with all the new buildings and walkways and the vast green space. I was very pleasantly surprised.

Has anyone been to Endicott College in MA (20 miles outside of Boston)? Endicott is on the ocean with three beaches. We were surprised how beautiful the campus was.

but it’s pretty unanimous that UC San Diego and Pepperdine have the hottest campuses hands down. You can’t beat hilltop overlooking beach, and rich students wearing Gucci driving BMW convertibles. You just can’t. :)

I guess this thread isn’t so pointless after all, because beauty is in the eye of the beholder TO AN EXTENT. haha

UCSD is definitely not one of the top 10 prettiest campuses. Am I reading the same thread as you? It doesn’t seem like it is a unanimous opinion to me.

UC Santa Cruz is absolutely amazing. It’s a university that’s build inside a redwood forest on a hill that overlooks the ocean. Scroll down through the pictures and you’ll see what I mean.

New College of Florida
Stanford
Bennington
Loyola Marymount
Pepperdine
UC-Santa Cruz
Stonehill
Colgate
Mount Holyoke
Sweet Briar
Wagner C
Swarthmore
Flagler
All spectacular.
But my fave is Stanford because of how little road intersection into the campus there is. It’s all bike-riding.

Surprised no one has mentioned Lewis and Clark College… it’s a sprawling old estate transformed into a charming little campus, very green with a great view of Mt. Hood.

Also, I agree with University of Washington - every time go there to do research I fall in love with the Suzallo library all over again =]
