top 10% of class

Is this based on unweighted GPA or weighted?

Depends on the school, but most likely weighted.

^ ditto..........

our school it's unweighted.

it depends from school to school though.

Its pretty lame if its unweighted

At my school its weighted and I would be bummed if it wasn't and got beat out by a bunch of people taking unchallenging courses

Mine's weighted. Unweighted is ridiculous.. What incentive is there for taking AP's and honors classes??

yeah that is exactly how i feel.
there are about 25 valedictorians who are all ranked 25.
and the second people is automatically ranked number 25 plus however many people come after.

stupidest thing ever.
we send about 100 to UC Berkeley & 50 to HYPSM

Wait, your school sends 50 kids EVERY YEAR to HYPSM? Whoa. Where do you go?

Our school reports both weighted and unweighted. Why don't they all do this?

@wmmk
I smell a troll.

At our school, we don't even weigh courses so its UW for us but then again, our valedictorian has a 98 average UW taking like 10 AP classes anyway. 50 is ridiculous to HYPSM. I'm pretty sure my school sends about 10-15 every year.

The person with the highest weighted GPA in my grade doesn't even have a 4.0

i'm not a troll or whatever.

i don't want to openly go and state which school i go to.
but it's ranked in the top 50 in the nation. PM me if you honestly want to know.

& i was exaggerating when i said our school sends about 50.
however, a lot do go to stanford because we are in-state.
but in all honesty, a lot of kids at our school are successful.

OK, so don't exaggerate next time.

Unweighted at D's school (private). Unweighted at S's school (public --but years ago).
