Would anyone by chance know what may be the stats for the top 10 out of state applicants? I asked the Office of Fin-aid, but they said that they can't disclose that information (I can only assume that is because it's a new scholarship). Also if anyone could give me some information as to the stats of previous Chancellor's Alumuni winners that would be helpful.

I just want to see whether I have a shot at the full-ride scholarship before I recieve my actual awards at the end of this month.

BTW if you could chance me that would be great:

I got it in 2008, it’s not new, they calculated my GPA as 3.87, although it really was much lower unweighted but I had mostly 4.5 and 5.0 classes, and I had a 34 ACT. I was an alternate and got it when someone went elsewhere.

Keep in mind that was before the economy totally crashed and people were still willing to pay 50K/year to attend college. Probably much more competitive now, I wouldn’t stand a chance in hell in getting it applying now. I think you probably need a 4.0 these days along with qualifying test scores.

Honestly, it was a blessing and a curse. Blessing: Got a free undergrad education, set me up for a T14 law school without any previous debt. Curse: I was stuck at a place where I did not fit at all and was miserable for 3 years and had to stick it out.

Somewhat of an old post, sorry about that. Just curious though, LSU8888, why do you not “fit in” at LSU? and what do you find miserable? Thanks.

This is the first time I’ve checked this since I posted that…

Well I found it very hard to meet people with similar interests. It seemed like there was either the party crowd or the religious crowd and I didn’t fit in with either. LSU is very cliquish for a college. It seems like a large portion of people just stick with all the people they knew from high school, even some of the Texans. Also, the Greek system is quite strong and that was not something I was ever involved with. Also, being a northerner, I just never connected very well with some of the locals. Just didn’t seem to have much in common. I did try and join organizations and I got frustrated at how people still didn’t seem to want to put themselves out there to meet new people.

It is kind of personal and I really don’t want to sound ungrateful or like a whiner considering how fortunate I was to be in the position I was in, but if you want to know more, send me a PM and feel free to ask any specifics. I am excited about using what I have learned to use when I attend UVA Law next fall.
