Top 10 schools

I got a 34 ACT and 2220 SAT, and while I know that my sites are very competitive, I want to know if a 36/2400 would increase admission chances to the top 10 usnwr schools significantly. I have a bunch of other stuff like sports, clubs, etc. but not the leadership that many of my friends who go to ivies have. Should I retake it.

Note: 31 Act english and only b on my transcript in english class

Well, it cetainly wouldn’t hurt your chances.

Might not make too much of a difference, though.

I doubt it would make much difference.

Although it’s certainly never a BAD thing to have a higher score, I honestly don’t think that not having a 36 will hurt your chances. I believe the top tens and Ivy Leagues look at more than just your scores. They want all-rounded students who not only have high scores but also have excellent grades, meaningful extra curricular activity (that you’ve stayed committed to), and well-thought essays. While your score is important, your application as a whole paints a picture that will determine your admission.

I have a friend of a friend who had a 4.0 out of high school and a 36 on his ACT. He got denied by Stanford, MIT, Harvard, and Yale, because he was a bookworm. He didn’t do anything outside of school. Anyway… Make sure you’re getting involved in other activities and, more specifically, ones that you ENJOY.
