Top 10 State Schools.

I think it should be:

UVA, Berkeley, UCLA, UNC, Michigan, Wisconsin, UF, Maryland, Binghamton, Indiana

Then again I don’t know much about the state schools just which ones have some good programs and which are most popular in my school.

And Pierre0913 your probably right. I’m thinking of majoring in Political Science or International Relations, although I did get into Indiana’s business school, so unfortunately it’s a bit harder to judge those programs. The three state schools I applied to and got into are Wisconsin, Binghamton, and Indiana. I’m having a hard time choosing between them.

UVA
William & Mary
Rest doesn’t matter because they pale in comparison

see I can’t argue with that, you can easily say that Binghamton and Indiana are better schools than UC-Davis or UC-Irvine, I think that we are getting to a point after the top 5 where any attempt at ranking public schools would be counterproductive and would cause some excellent schools to go under the radar.

All of you UVA lovers still haven’t shown me any statistics of why UVA is so great. Furthermore, anyone who places UVA ahead of Berkeley is clueless in my opinion.

look at the graduation rate, look at the retention rates, look at the size of the school, and you’ll begin to see what I mean about UVA

“I respectfully disagree, UVA is definitely much better than Michigan”

Pierre, can you please explain your statement? What makes UVa “much better” than Michigan?

Show me the comparison stats pierre0913. I showed you some of mine. I’ll give you the fact that UVA is smaller.

I’m writing my english thesis right now, I’ll dig up the stats tomorrow when I have time to argue this out ok?

It’s called Google

Yes I know StevenSeagal. I backed up my statements.

JiffsMom, looks like Purdue was overlooked. Here’s the undergrad engineering rank:

Size and resources go together. Michigan has more faculty and better resources. There are virtually no difference in class size distribution between the two:

% Class
Size…Mich…UVa
<10 … 12 … 18
10-19 … 32 … 32
20-29 … 26 … 19
30-39 … 8 … 11
40-49 … 4 … 6
50-99 … 11 … 8
100+ … 7 … 6

Class <40: Mich 70%; UVa 69%

Thanks UCBChemEGrad! For a minute there, I thought I must have missed whatever catastrophic event caused Purdue’s fall from perennial recognition for their school of engineering. You never know…

Maybe quantize was unaware that Purdue is a state school.

My personal opinion:

UC Berkeley

Michigan

UVA

UCLA

UNC

Wisconsin

Georgia Tech

UCSD

UT Austin

Washington

2, 3, and 4 are pretty close.
