i live in texas and i got my transcript and rank.
my percentage was 10.04%... first one off top 10%.
so am i not getting that automatic admission thing b/c of .04%?
so since i am not even in top 10%, should i not even think about
BHP or is it still considerable if i can raise my SAT or write awesome essays.

and i am wondering it would be better to send my application early
or send it later after i take another SAT in oct. and nov.

first off, UT doesnt care when you send in your app. they consider all apps equally. however, you should still send it in asap, preferably before january, because by then, many of the major choices start to become filled up with accepted applicants. so send it in before january, preferably. i think sending it in january might be too risky, but thats just what i think.

second, yeah, i would assume that because you're off by .04%, you wont be included in auto admission. but its not that big of a deal. more than likely you'll still get accepted, considering your high ranking and the fact that you're a texas resident. just fyi, for some statistics, this yr, 71% of the entering freshman class of about 13000 was in the top 10%. the rest of the 29% is the other texas residents, out of staters, international students, and whatnot.

third, because you're applying to bhp and the business school, you may want to consider taking another SAT in order to bump your stats because getting into either of these programs/colleges is competitive as you probably already know. bhp in fact is known for accepting mostly top 5% students, with some exceptions possiblly - im not quite sure. even so, despite the fact that you're not at 5%, you should still give bhp a shot. you still have SAT scores and the interview to prove your worth. after all, this whole application process is all about gambling, is it not?
