woopdeedoo I'm number 2 in the waitlist now. Hope people drop Prof. C man. I need that class.

Hmm yeah just saw that, but they didn’t add any more spots to the discussions either. Hmm…

let’s just hope we all get in within the next 2 weeks.

Yeah, hopefully.

yeah lol this was suspicious, they added more ppl in the class without even adding another discussion class. but who cares, i got in! :)

Congrats diablo!

someone looked at the FA09/FA08 numbers for those classes, and saw that all the discussions had their numbers increased to 40 per class.

archives are good, and not just on CC :)

They already changed the number per discussion to 40 people last week, before this recent change.

Is it me, or when you look at the schedule of classes, does it say “data unavailable”? I just dropped a waitlisted class and got the last spot in another section (which now also has a waitlist), so this is not cool…

tritonlink is always down after midnight, so all the real-time data isn’t shown either

yes! got into chem 6a as well! i wish i signed up for sailors class when he had only 7 people waitlisted at the time! oh well, its all good for me when its coming down to waitlist. i got moved from #2 in math 20a to #1 as well! hahaha

I cant see tritonlink but i’m guessing im #7 =

I was hoping they opened a new discussion section instead.

what just happened??
for times when a course has waitlists as large as chem6a, i heard that they over-enroll students, close the waitlist, and then wait for the students to drop
so is the waitlist closed now?

for those of you that were previously waitlisted for a chem6a class, but are now in, which section did you get into? did any of you receive an email of any sort about the chem depart adding more seats?

wonder if the “10% rule” counts toward this situation for Chem 6A

i got bumped up!! although it is for Prof C’s class with a night discussion…

@jsb_hbfs38, nope, i didn’t get an email from the chem dept, but i did get an email from the registrar saying that i’m off the waitlist.

i think they let in the top 10 waitlistees because of the 10 spots they opened when they changed the class limit from 30 to 40. i expect the estimated 10% rule applies starting now. but, i also think that andrew might be right, and that they’ll open more discussion sections because, as someone pointed out earlier, they had two more discussion sections for fall 2009 chem 6a than they do now.

but that’s just my opinion.

well, if we don’t get in, then I think we may need to start thinking about sitting in and stuff huh? don’t know how that works, just ask the professor you want to be in his lecture even though you’re on the waitlist? LOL

I wonder what the timing is for the 10% theory, before or after the quarter begins?

once again, professors for the chemistry department have NO power over how many to admit. if you choose to just sit in and listen to the lecture, you don’t need to ask.

(if you want other things, like OH privileges and taking exams as practice - though i don’t know why you would, you should ask in those cases.)

the 10% thing (if it even is that number) is over the course of the quarter. why would you drop a class before you’ve even experienced it? i dropped my classes either after a) realizing i didn’t like the professor or b) being buried with too much work

So basically my position won’t move till the quarter begins huh?

i heard the chem classes already over-enrolled, so they won’t be adding any new ppl from the waitlist. :
