Top 15 Gadgets for College Students

Gerber guardian, get a sheath for that too.

It’s true, haha. But Mac’s good about that kind of thing, and iphones are just cool.

I agree that an iPhone can solve many of the same functions as some of these, but the cost is probably still higher than the total of these same things.

I have an iPhone myself, and I love it, but I don’t think that apple needs anymore advertising… =)

wait, why aren’t you allowed to use a graphing calculator? i know at least for IB exams in high school as long as you show the teacher its clear before you walk in theres no problem. there has been a graphing calculator requirement for all of my math classes since 8th grade so i think it would be a bit annoying to have to go and buy a new one just for college. and i remember having to use one in calculus in high school and since the syllabus for college level calculus at my university is exactly the same…i dont see why you wouldnt need one

as far as alarm clocks go, i want to get one of those that breaks apart when it goes off, and you have to find and collect the pieces and put it back together before it shuts off – i fear its the only thing that will work for an 8.30 class haha

in my calc 1 class we could use whatever kind of calculator we wanted, then in my calc 2 class we could only use a ti-30, not just no graphing calculators but had to be that exact one.

so it’s going to depend on the teacher

Haha. At my college’s orientation there was something similar to that being advertised on all the TVs in the student union. It’s basically an alarm clock that looks like a mouse and it will keep running around your room making noises until you catch it.

I dunno. Those things just aren’t for me.

Why hasn’t taser made the the list. Either that or pepper spray

I dont think of taser or pepper spray as gadgets…

Of course they are gadgets.

I use my phone to wake up too, but I end up hating the song (rington) that I use as my alarm!! >_< can’t ever listen to it without being annoyed. So I have to use soft music for my alarm clock or a song that doesn’t have a loud chorus (like.. Sexyback. LOL)

My roommate used to wake up to really loud radio STATIC. It would go off all the sudden from her clock radio and FREAK ME OUT. it was like a friggin horror movie o_O. it was the only thing that apparently woke her up so i dealt with it (and I usually woke up earlier) but I did shudder everytime it rang.

Don’t forget a mini-fridge. It helps to have something to snack on while you’re hungry, especially when studying.

I think bringing a printer is a waste of money and space. Its useless when there is so much abundant public printing on almost all major universities.

haha. You don’t know how convenient it is when you’re starting a research paper from scratch the night before it’s due. Every extra minute counts.

Well, the one bad thing with the school printers is that if you are in a rush, you are more likely to print papers without catching typos, and BAM, you gotta run back and do it again (a waste of both time and money).

The public printers at my school cost money. So do copies.

Which is why it was not only very convenient, but more cost effective for me to buy a printer/scanner (two-in-one) for myself. I’ll probably use it for several years even after college.

Based on how much I had to print over the last couple years (lab reports, essays, application forms, etc) it’s easily paid for itself by now (compared to how much I would have spent if I’d used and paid for public printers and copiers in the library).

Laser printer over inkjet.
