top 20 schools

I am looking for which schools to apply to,could somebody please make a list of the top 20 boarding schools in the US, preferably in order, and please list the state the school is in.

I know that this topic will most likely cause controversy, but oh well.

Some schools that are usually considered in the top 20 are:

Andover
Choate
Exeter
Groton
Hotchkiss
Lawrenceville
Milton
St. Paul’s

(in alphabetical order, to discourage picking distinct ranks)

Disclaimer: The right school for you is the one that you best “fit” at. The tippy top schools aren’t for everyone. And you should look into some lower tiered schools also. Don’t apply just to top schools, you may not get into any…

Deerfield
Kent
Loomis Chaffee
Middlesex
Peddie
Miss Porter’s
Emma Willard

not in any order. random, based on the order they came to mind :)

exeter
andover
st. pauls
deerfield
hotchkiss
lawrenceville
groton
choate
milton
georgetown prep
taft
middlesex
peddie
thacher
Hill
Loomis
hockaday
emma wilard
kent
last but not least, governors academy

other top schools should include:
westminster
st. andrews
st. marks
brooks
cranbrook schools
NMH

GLADCHEMS

Groton
Lville/Loomis
Andover
Deerfield
Choat
Hotchkiss
Exeter
Msex/Milton
St.P/S.G/S.M

Others=
Brooks
Peddie
Blair
Taft
Westminster
NMH
Tabor
Cate
Stevenson
Episcopal
Suffield
Pomfret
Kent

Polytech and Collegiate.

Collegiate is truly superb. http://privateschool.about.com/od/schoolsny1/qt/collegiate.htm

Ivy/MIT/Stanford pipeline rate of 40%

Collegiate is better than even the famed Andover (33%) at sending kids to Ivies/Mit/Stanford.

^ Do you have data to support those matriculation stats? And please don’t cite that WSJ article with the most ridiculous methodology I’ve ever seen.

NyC prep day schools are much better than andover and exeter. The matriculation is better as well

@ Jersey13

Knock yourself out.

IT seems to be a viable sources, getting the key dates and endowment figures right. There is no reason to doubt the authenticity of the data presented.

Choate Rosemary Hall
Hotchkiss School
Middlesex School
Milton Academy
Lawrenceville School
Loomis Chaffee School
St. Andrew’s School
Peddie School
Taft School
St. George’s School
St. Mark’s School
Westminister School
Concord Academy

I feel like Concord shouldn’t be on it (a) because of the large amount of day students and (b) because it really isn’t as good as it used to be, and many other schools are better then it now
