I kind of pieced this together quickly, so it’s probably kind of inconsistent. Obviously somewhat subjective to my personal tastes as well ;)

Swarthmore should be a little bit higher on that list …

I like the OP’s (country day’s) list. except I would move Smith and Oberlin up a little , and move Vassar and kenyon down a little

1. Claremont McKenna
–Huge Gap–
2. Pomona
3. Grinnell (yay for Iowa)

;)

Is wellesly being completely disregarded here lol

Reed should be up there in the top 10.

Colgate has been in the top 20 LACs on USNWR for the last 15+ years and would rather go there than most of the schools on the top LACs list. Colgate should certainly be above your #16,17 Colby and Bates; as should Wesleyan.

Here is my list of CO-ED LACs (since I don’t know anything about the women’s colleges):

HR: Lewis and Clark, Whitman

I made this pretty quickly because it looked fun, so it is also probably a bit ‘subjective’.

Holy Cross and Bucknell belong in the top25.

Honestly, I am not really sure if Williams and Amherst come close to Pomona, let alone Swarthmore. I see Pomona and Swarthmore as the two clear cut top LAC’s followed by Amherst and Williams. The intellect of the undergrads at Swarthmore is twice that of Amherst or Williams. Not to mention Swarthmore has the most undergrads(by percentile) go to top doctorate programs for almost every social science. I am not sure any LAC can top that. Swarthmore is just a different breed of students. And I am not even a Swarthmore student.
