Top 30 schools.....

Which top 30 schools have the best social life? I'm looking for a good academic college that also has a good social life outside of class (greek life, parties, clubs, etc...). I know Cornell is an excellent all around school with plenty of things to do, but what other schools are well rounded and have a great college life outside of academics. The schools don't have to be in the top 30, but I'm looking to go to a good academic school.

vanderbilt is fully of beautiful party people, georgetown too. Dartmouth is also known for its awesome intelligent+party scene…

Pomona College.

university of texas at austin, especially for business

Dayton’s a big party school. Emphasis on the ‘big’.

UW-Madison

Agreed with mcfuggie. I have a friend at Vanderbilt who says everyone parties all the time and Greek life is huge.

Okay guys he said top 30 schools. Texas and Dayton, sorry. Mad-town, you’re boarderline for the academic portion but definitely party. Look also at Vandy, Michigan, Dartmouth, Cornell, and UCLA.

I cannot believe we have not mentioned USC

@eziamm

I actually second the recommendation of UTexas a Austin. It is one of the schools dubbed as a “Public Ivy” and is one of the best schools for Business, Engineering, Computer Science and many other majors. It is also in the city of Austin, Texas which may as well be one of the best and most fun cities in the United States.

UT is definitely one of the top 10 public schools in the country and one of the best schools in the country period.

UNC-Chapel Hill is actually ranked in the top 30 unlike many of the other schools mentioned. Combine its athletic prowess with its location in an ideal college town and I think its hard to beat.

UTx-Austin > UNC-Chapel hill

UT Austin isn’t in the USNWR top 30, so it isn’t eligible for consideration here.

UT-Austin

Let’s see here,

Top 10, Business program (#1 in Accounting)
Top 10, Engineering Program, literally every Engineering disciple is in the top 10
Top 10, Computer Science Program

want me to keep going?

not to mention its one of the top recruited schools by all the major companies.

USNWR ranking is flawed. Georgetown is ranked higher than UT in that list and Georgetown has no notable programs at all and isn’t nearly as respected.

Lmao Georgetown is way better than UT-Austin. Ever heard of Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service?

UT-Austin great but not nearly as well-respected as Georgetown.

The top 30 schools with the best social life are as follows:

Cornell
Dartmouth
Duke
UVA
USC
UCLA
Berkeley
Northwestern
UNC
Michigan
Wake Forest
UPenn

Top 30 Schools with the worst social life:
UChicago
MIT
CalTech
Harvard
Carnegie Mellon

That’s cool, but this thread is about top 30 schools, and UT-Austin isn’t one. UNC is, however.

UNC>UT-Austin.

i guess the stupid ones are looking past the fact that he said it doesnt have to be in the top 30 and usnwr is so b******t its ridiculous, we have the #1 accounting program in the nation, top 10 business school (mccombs), lets see, laura bush, matthew mcconaghey (however you spell his name lol) the fourth man to walk on the moon, the inventor of dell computers, and the man who created gatorade, i would go on but im kind of tired, besides who has unc had besides michael jordan?

Well, lets see. As the oldest public university in the country, we’ve had a number of famous alumni. We’ve had a President (James K. Polk), famous authors (Thomas Wolfe), CEOs of little companies like Bank of America, Wachovia, JP Morgan Chase, and Citigroup, among others. We’ve also had actors (Andy Griffith), pundits (Chris Matthews), journalists (Charles Kuralt), sportscasters (Stuart Scott), Pulitzer Prize winners (12 of them, too many to list), governors (35 in total), US Senators (14), US Congressional Representatives (62), olympians, astronauts, and yes, like you said, Michael Jordan.

Hope that answers your question!

Anyways, I’m not trying to knock on UT-Austin. The OP just wanted a list of schools in the USNWR top 30 that have good social scenes, and several of the schools pointed out (UT-Austin, UW-Madison, Dayton) aren’t in that category, as people have pointed out.

University of Connecticut.
