Nothing yet.. I'll have to check the mail tomorrow.

Oh My Gosh!!! I got it today in IL!!!
Yay for staying home sick on the right day :)

^ Cool! I was just about to ask if anyone got it today, rather than yesterday!

CONGRATULATIONS, ticktock!!!!! (you deserve it :))

Still nothing.

Giving up hope.

::the winter storm rises, the camera zooms out to a view of the whole mountain, then the picture fades to white as somber music plays::

Nothing.
Whatever, I already got one from Dartmouth.
Chances are high I'd pick Dartmouth over Duke anyway.

I just received a Duke top 350 Likely Letter. I also received the LSRW invite.

Here is my stats profile :

What is a LSRW invite? If I may ask.

I got one too :)

Got one today, IL!

Got one in Colorado today and was very surprised.

After reading the letter and the attached FAQ again, and looking at posts from both this year and last, these are my thoughts.

With admissions decisions coming out in less than three weeks, those of us who got this "350 letter" are NOT getting scholarships. AB Duke notices (and presumably University) have gone out. Those were sent the first week of March, which corresponds to what they did last year (I searched last year's threads). That in turn validates what was said in the FAQ flyer regarding when they'd be letting people know.

So, IMO, if you haven't been officially invited to Duke for a scholarship interview, you are one of the top 350, you are in Duke, but you are not getting a scholarship. A careful read of yesterday's letter and a bit of reading between the lines suggests this to be true.

Now the question is, do they give partial merit based "bribes" to induce these top 350 to choose Duke over the HYPS's of the world? Clearly these "350" will have lots of choices to make so what will make them choose Duke over the others without the "bribes"?

In years past, students in this 'top 350' group were invited to 'Duke Up Close' weekend where they paid for you to fly in for the weekend and visit and try to entice you to come. However, due to funding cuts, they are just telling you that you're in the group but not paying for you to come visit.

i got one yesterday. i live in connecticut.

Mom: No partial merit at Duke. Just those few programs for which everyone has already been invited to attend. There may be some alumni club stuff or if you fit a specific criteria, but over all no merit money opportunities. The recipients of these letters will get emails and letters from profs telling them about the Duke programs.

Nothing in the mail.
I guess I should assume I'm not getting one..
It doesn't mean much though.
My best friend, who goes to Duke now, didn't get a likely letter..

None for me. I'm still getting in, though (nervously pulls at collar).

Three cheers for optimism...

good luck to all

Are these really legit "350?" I know of 3 people who got this letter and they all live like... within 5 miles of each other? And they're not even from some hardcore school district either...

Yeah... my mailbox is a Duke Top 350 likely letter virgin.

Three cheers for... crude jokes?
