Top 5 Engineering Schools for African Americans/Blacks

My top 5 engineering schools for blacks

  1. North Carolina A&T - #1 producer of black engineers, full of highly accomplished alumni and the "Aggie Network" is still very much alive and strong
  2. Georgia Tech - former #1 producer of black engineers in what's widely considered the "Black Mecca" a.k.a. Atlanta
  3. Texas Southern - new engineering program with brand new tier 1 facilities and endless opportunity nearby living in Downtown Houston. The odds of having to completely uproot yourself after graduation is very low unlike at schools in NC, FL, and Alabama
  4. FAMU - engineering program has a solid established reputation, is among the top producers of black engineers, and home to big and legendary homecomings
  5. Prairie View A&M - program has a solid reputation and is ideally located 30 miles away from Houston and 3 hours away from Dallas which are both great cities to live and work as a black engineer.

@lostaccount I’m ranking engineering schools with a strong history, track record, and projection of genuinely cultivating and embracing large numbers of black talent.

Almost all the schools you mentioned have black students as a small fraction of their engineering students which is not ideal for most prospective black engineering students
