Top 5 Schools in NYC?

Try and stick around Manhattan. Campus branches are fine too, like Fordham's LAC.

So, top five?

columbia

NYU

fordham

Cuny Hunter

Cuny Queens

Last two are subject to different arragements, perhaps even city college could be in there.

Barnard? Yeshiva? Juilliard? Cooper Union?

Barnard should deff. be up there

It really depends on what you are studying.

Cooper union, barnard, Eugene Lang or whatever it’s called may hold those spots actually. The CUNYs are extremely poorly funded unfortunately, although Hunter was okay when I had a look.

I’d go in the order of Columbia, NYU, Yeshiva, Cooper Union, etc. Fordham is decent but its only real distinguishing feature is its law school. Yeshiva’s got an edge in research. Cooper is a very good school but it’s got a narrow focus (it’s only considered by those who definitely want to go into the arts or engineering).

Julliard and Cooper Union are very specialized, so I will ignore them.

Top 5 “all-round” in NYC:

Columbia

NYU

Fordham (espically for law)

Yeshiva (especially for law and medicine)

CUNY (referring to the top constituent colleges only: Brooklyn, Baruch, Queens, Hunter and City Colleges)

How about Macaulay? ([Macaulay Honors College -](http://macaulay.cuny.edu/))

With the exception of Cooper and Columbia, its probably the most difficult to get into (~20%; >1400 SAT). Also the benefits are pretty sweet if you were interested.

1.) Columbia
2.) NYU or CUNY Macaulay
3.)Fordham
4.)CUNY
5.)St. John’s ?

Poor, poor Barnard. >:

For undergrad:

1) Columbia
2) Barnard
3) NYU
4) Fordham
5) Yeshiva

2&3 are interchangeable depending on small preferences as are 4&5.

I think I agree with the previous poster ^^^, even though my younger D is currently a Macaulay honors student @ Brooklyn College.

It is a great program, but not equivalent to any of the schools on confidentialcoll’s list.

^ I agree beacuse even though its tough to get into, you will still be attending one of the CUNY schools as your ‘school’

Columbia
Barnard/NYU
Fordham
…
