Finally getting involved with the opposite sex (late bloomer). Started flirting, went on a couple “dates”, confessed my feelings to a guy I liked. I’ve become more outgoing and friendly with both girls and guys I think

Decided I might take a gap year to be an English teacher before trying to get into a graduate school in the UK.

Realized that I hate most of the people in my major (Computer Science), not the major. Decided I need to do everything humanly possible to not become part of the boring math/science crowd and actually have a life while still getting my degree.

Realized that my family has some serious problems and that I need to protect myself from being influenced by their negativity.

Got a 3.5 GPA in this first year. Not bad but I feel like I should aim higher.

Earned my first 4.0. I haven’t had straight A’s since the sixth grade. I got a B+ second semester, but my GPA is still a 3.952… which is way higher than it ever was in high school. I went from an A/B/C student to basically an A student, which I’m very proud of.

I auditioned for a play! That doesn’t sound like a big deal since I’m a Theatre major, but I get really, really, really nervous auditioning, so finally I pulled up the courage at the end of the year to audition. The audition itself was an epic failure. I forgot my lines in the middle. But for me, personally, it was a success. I faced something I was afraid of and suffered through a worst-case-scenario (forgetting my monologue) and I realized that everything was still okay.

I made some GREAT friends. I had my nineteenth birthday two weeks ago and I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy in my life on my birthday. One of them texted me “Happ” right after midnight and when I texted him back “What?” he called me and said “Py birthday!” I thought it was so cute and it made it start off great. Then my other friend, who I’m planning on living with next year, took me out to lunch and hand made me two wooden letters to go in my room next year. She’s not crafty AT ALL but it turned out so beautifully and it meant so much.

I got my first job outside of working in my parents’ office.

I worked on my first play as a backstage member.
