<p>What? The Decembrists and Something Corporate are extremely well-known. Well, here in Orlando, anyway. I, personally, cannot stand Something Corporate. "Only Ashes" is <em>so</em> Backstreet Boys to me, if you take out the guitar riffs. Well, even with the guitar riffs, it sounds very BSB.</p>

THE BUZZC0CKS (they perfected pop punk; I have no clue why they don't have the same clout as the Sex Pistols now)

MANIC STREET PREACHERS (this band, I think, is pretty popular now--I THINK)</p>

<p>And please people, no reason to be music snobs. Just because a band isn't completely unknown doesn't mean that a lot of people haven't heard of it. What is overplayed to you could be undiscovered to another person. I live in Atlanta and I don't know of any radio station that plays The Decembrists. </p>

<p>The decemberists are definitely one of my favorite bands. And they're so amazing live, tons of energy. If you haven't seen the video for "16 Military Wives," you should google it...hilarious stuff.</p>
<p>Wilco is amazing as well. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is probably my favorite album of any that I own by anyone. The songs individually are great, but as an album they flow together so well. I love it.</p>
<p>I don't know what constitutes "discovered" or "undiscovered" and a lot of bands I like have already been mentioned, so I'll just throw out a few more...
The Notwist (for fans of the postal service)
The Good Life (the other band of Tim Kasher, the singer from Cursive, but I think they're a lot better than Cursive)

Sondre Lerche (both KoC and sondre lerche are so so so incredible. Both are from Norway and play sort of mellow, acoustic type stuff, with gorgeous lyrics and great voices. I'd definitely check them out)
