Top 500 World Universities

I beleive UCSD is overrated, especially in this ranking. I'm simply saying that there are SOME (not all) professors who are not top notch in terms of explaining the material even though they are top notch researchers in their respective field.
Personally, I rather have a prof. who can explain rather than be known for research and can't convey information to the student (not their peers).

wow, you guys are making a big deal out of it, dont believe everything on the internet, simple. you're all making a big fuss about it, why dont you all just do something more productive. youre all mad at something that doesnt matter.. OMGZ WHYS XXX IN THE TOP 100 OMG! who cares.

also, michigan state is ranked above brown.

"What is Univ. of California San Francisco?"

Its the University of California - San Francisco

uhhhh duhh?

UC-San Diego sure did well in here....

What a retarded ranking...

You people are incredible. The methodology for the ranking has been posted no less than five times in this thread and there are stil people who don't understand why the rankings turned out the way they did.

It is one thing to disagree that the methodology can accurately depict what it claims to, it is another entirely to fail to understand how they reached those conclusions - this information is plainly stated.

Personally, I think the ranking is valid, if you stop and remember that these rankings are geared towards scientific institutions with talented faculty. I think the alumni category is kind of baseless, but the rest of it is relevant to the university's strength in some areas.

seriously...how did UCSD beat both UCLA and U Penn

The above post just makes me want to break down and cry. It really does.

i guess i understand for bioengineering but overall i think la and u penn are WAY better

Um, how can Penn State and Rutgers be ranked above Dartmouth and Notre Dame? This ranking is some kind of a joke, right?

WOW, UW in top 20? Sweet, I'm soooo applying there, considering I'm 20 minutes away from it. :)

These rankings obviously delve into different things than the US News... US News focuses more on undergrad education while these ranking, I believe, focus more on Graduate Education.

UCB may only be (gasp! #20 in US News), but if you look at the Graduate School rankings (U.S News...), just about all of UCB's programs are in the Top Ten.

Public universities, due to their large sizes, offer a lot of fine research opportunities for grad students...

Sure, I guess it can be argued, that the brightest professors may not always be the best teachers, but best assured... they know A LOT about the field they work on.

These two rankings focus on different things... both, of course, have prestige as a top factor. :p

Dont apply there! The ranking is a joke, very innacurate!

um is Case Western Reserve University even on there?

IM REPOSTING WHAT I SAID, YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING.

wow, you guys are making a big deal out of it, dont believe everything on the internet, simple. you're all making a big fuss about it, why dont you all just do something more productive. youre all mad at something that doesnt matter.. OMGZ WHYS XXX IN THE TOP 100 OMG! who cares.

Why are you making such a big deal about other people posting? If they want to, then let them.

haha, you guys are way too egotistical and prestige hungry. does the ranking of your school really mean that much to you? is it really going to determine the how happy you are with your life? well if it does, sucks for you!! my college is ranked 20 and all you poor saps going to duke are at 31! I'M BETTER THAN YOU!

PS: lighten up

NYU - 32

Carnegie Mellon - 62

Brown - 82

I LOVE this list <3 NYU RULES

WoW CMU > BRown I am sso proudz of myselfz! i sup0rt this raking 100%! /sarcasm.

I agree, this chart is nonsenical. Whoever wrote this chart probably went to harvard. Because how can harvard get such a high score, and princeton, yale and stanford not.
