On the UC App status check page, it tells me I am not in the top 9% of my school and am not eligible for that guaranteed admission thing or whatever.
But I've received the letter telling me I qualified and another this year that told me I was in the top 9%. I this just another fluke on the UC app? If so, what should I do to fix this?

The letter you’re referring to might be the same one I received earlier in the year. It said that I was in the top 15% of my class and that if I was in the top 9% by the end of the semester I’d be eligible for ELC. Sorry if this is the case.

And if it isn’t the case, there’s an easy way of calculating your percentile. Divide your class rank by the number of students in your class and multiply it by 100. Anything that is 9 or smaller will be the top 9% of your class. i.e. (15/450)x100=3.33 so this student would be in the top 96% of his or her class.

EDIT: I meant 96th percentile. Fail. lol. :)

I did receive that letter but I think this fall they sent me another letter confirming that I was in the top 9%.
I also forgot to say that my counselor already told me I was in the top 5% at my school…so what do you think?

Here’s a link to the UC’s information about ELC. Maybe your GPA doesn’t meet the “historic GPA.”

[University of California - Local path](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/freshman/california-residents/local-path/index.html)

In either case, I would schedule a meeting with your counselor and find out what’s going on. Your counselor should know what to do next whether it be contacting schools or whatever needs to happen.

I talked to my counselor and she told me they’re compiling a list of the students and are going to fix the problem with the UCs

thank you guys though!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but this year being ELC will only guarantee admission to UC Merced. So, since you do not need to be in the top 9% to be admitted to UC Merced I do not see the importance of being designated ELC.

I’ve heard Riverside as well whatever

they also guarantee that every school you applied to will read your entire application, which is a bit better than the chance you’ll be cut out without a glance lol
