Does anyone knows which are the top architecture undergrad programs that are more generous in providing merit-based scholarships/financial aid?
how about 2nd tier programs?
Any light/tips/advice on how to get merit-based scholarships/financial aid in an architecture undergrad program would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

NYIT

they give scholarships for GPA and SAT scores
and they also give good finacial aid. and if you
live in NY you can also get TAP

Don't be afraid to check directly with the schools that you are interested in. As arch schools are so few you'll probably have a short list. I called last year and was given average need based amounts and merit based awards for all the schools my S applied to, so we sorta knew what most likely would be offered if he was accepted -and it was pretty accurate with most of them. On merit, schools will give you a good idea of the minimum stats necessary to qualify as Dmoreno26 stated with NYIT.

Having SAT and GPA above the 75th percentile of accepted students gives you a good chance for merit. The more "interested" the school is in you, the more willing they will be to offer merit aid.

Kansas State University. USNWR first tier national university, very strong programs in architecture and good merit aid. College of Architecture, Planning & Design @ K-State

Thanks for the ideas. I'm kind of worry since my D gpa is 3.5. We don't know about SAT scores yet since she's retaking them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it would be hard for her to get merit-based scholarships/aid with this gpa?
It's a good idea. I'll call the colleges and ask about their scholarships/financial aid.

A 3.5 is a great gpa, no it's not the 4.0 that seem to dominate those hanging around this board seeking acceptance to the top elite schools, but still a gpa your daughter should be proud of. My sons experience was that many of the arch schools are looking for more than the perfect gpa or top SAT scores. He received nice merit aid offers form several schools with a 3.3something gpa. I'll PM you.

4trees, thanks for sharing your experience. It really gives me hope.
