Which schools have the best biology programs?

I am personally leaning towards general biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, biomedical sciences, genetics, biochemistry, pre-medicine, and possibly marine biology (for fun)

As for program/school type, i tend to favor the more academic schools (but not like vigorously academic like MIT) , though i do certainly like to live in a liberal environment if that is possible.

I am in IB Biology right now and got a 780 for my SAT II Bio if that in case helps with your responses.

Well, Berkeley, Harvard, MIT, and Stanford are the four institutions offering undergraduate education that are considered top-tier for graduate study in all the fields you mentioned (besides marine biology and pre-med, the latter of which is not a program of study). This is generally reflected in the strength of undergraduate programs for these areas at these schools.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a top program that doesn’t go hand-in-hand with academic rigor, though…

Check out Johns Hopkins. Excellent pre-med program

Johns Hopkins is great at the graduate level. But for undergraduate I wouldn’t recommend it as much.

Penn has a surprisingly good biochemistry program called Vagelos Scholars for Molecular Life Sciences, in which you have to complete certain rigorous courses, given the choice to double major in two sciences or get a master in Chemistry, and a stipend for research. Unfortunately it’s by invitation only if you’re admitted, but you should give it a try since Penn is certainly one of those academic but not too academic like MIT schools with a liberal environment.
