Top Catholic Colleges

Hey I was just wondering what are the top Catholic colleges, I know Notre Dame, Georgetown and Boston College are the best, but any other good ones. A list of some really good ones would be awesome.

Fordham, Villanova, Marist, Providence...

Holy Cross (MA)
Villanova
Catholic U

There are about 50-75 of them.
Some names would surprise you like U Dallas and Gannon.

St. Louis U, Loyola of Chicago, and Santa Clara are very good.

Any Jesuit school will challenge you and get you to whatever next level you want to go to, if you push yourself.

But they are all a little different. Santa Clara and Holy Cross are as different as UC Davis and UCLA.

Here is a link to a list of Jesuit colleges:

That list is great....

Loyola marymount
University of San Diego
Boston College
Notre Dame
Georgetown

my personal favs

Notre Dame,Georgetown, Holy Cross and Boston College.

My top5 Catholic colleges:

Georgetown
Notre Dame
Boston College
Fordham
Villanova

Notre Dame and Holy Cross have 2 of the strongest alumni networks with alumni giving rates around 50%.

ckmets, Marist is not a Catholic college.

I second Holy Cross, but I wouldn't eliminate schools even if they're not Catholic-affiliated. Duke is 20% Catholic and has a very active Catholic group, for example.

Add University of San Francisco and St. Mary's

Providence College and Fairfield

Notre Dame
Georgetown
Boston College
Villanova
Providence
Holy Cross
Fairfield
Fordham
Loyola (Maryland, Chicago, New Orleans, Loyola Marymount)
Catholic U of America
DePaul
Marquette
U San Diego
U San Fransisco

Marist was founded as a Catholic seminary (Marist Bros.) and while it isn't officially affiliated with the congregation anymore (ecumenical i think?), it still has a strong Catholic tradition. It is certainly known as a Catholic college.

St. Joseph's University (Philly)

My favorites are:
in no order

Notre Dame
Georgetown
Villanova
BC
U Scranton
Holy Cross
Fairfield
Loyola MD

I am no expert on Catholic colleges, but in the US News list of Master's Universities in the West, four of the top six are Catholic (Gonzaga, U of Portland, Loyola Marymount, and Santa Clara) and the other two are Presbyterian (Whitworth and Trinity). FWIW...

From an academic reputationor tradition, Holy Cross is the only Catholic school that has played most Ivies for over 100 years. HC is the oldest non-Ivy rival of Harvard, Dartmouth, Yale and Brown. Non-Catholic Colgate has similar athletic rival as Holy Cross and Colgate are rival in prestigious Patriot League. Patriot League schedules Ivy League in most sports.
