I don’t know how - even if they just sampled a couple bites of each - how they made it through that pub crawl without exploding! So much heavy food!
I sort of hated to see a whole team go. I admit with the bottom two teams the team I liked or would miss least was the team to leave.
Thrilled for both teams of the top 2. Really enjoying getting to know these contestants and the flair they bring to the table from their country - and all their accents! The polish potato lady is enjoyable!
I like the Spanish chef Begoña. She just seems so calm and amusing, and makes excellent food.
I do have to say that I would starve on a pub crawl other than the Sunday roast. I’ve made Yorkshire pudding and yes, heated the muffin tins first. I got my recipe from Lawry’s Prime Rib’s web site.
I agree! That and maybe the fish and chips. I usually don’t watch Last Chance Kitchen, but the dish was another pub food I had never heard of - and would probably never order (some sort of bechamel-ish thing on toast). The Lady from Italy was kind of amusing when she complained she had to make toad in the hole which was so unappealing to her!
I think Buddha is a superstar among stars. You just know that everything he does is going to be great. Probably not the best team player but I’d be on his team because his food is always great.
I felt bad for Dale, May wasn’t a good team player and kept throwing shade at her partner.
Liking this season, and the international chefs.
I liked that the polish chef talked about Ukraine also. Brought some personal experience to the show.
While I thought the shade thrown at final table was not the classiest thing to do, I think when they conceived the dish Dale was pushing for “safe” and they ended up with Scottish Egg using Thai flavors vs the creativity shown by the other teams, especially the top 2. The Fish and Chips had the same lack of creativity, and they executed the fish batter badly (put Amar as one of the weakest chefs). I was surprised they weren’t voted out.
Also a huge Buddah fan. Unfortunately saw that his restaurant in NYC, Huso, had to temporarily (hopefully) close due to a fire on the premises. My D and SIL ate there twice (met Buddah once) and think the restaurant is fantastic. Fingers crossed they can reopen fairly quickly.
I don’t know if they have finished taping the season but this could be distraction if he is still competing.
So that I can remember which chef is which, I keep this link up while watching. Just scroll down toward the bottom to Cast. When the group gets smaller, I should be able to remember who is who!
Enjoy this season more as it seems more about cookery than drama. In the regular seasons there is greater disparity in pedigree (whom/where they have worked) and recognition awards, although some underdogs have proven themselves to be great chefs. Other chefs seemed to have been chosen because of their personality with mediocre skills.
I would love to sample most of the dishes prepared at Tottenham. Not familiar with the milder cheese, but sounded yummy. I love peas, so found those creations interesting as well.
I felt bad for the team who lost and battled it out. Although Begona’s dish stood out at the final challenge, the first 2 rounds were her ideas (she took the lead) that got them in the bottom. She may be an amazing chef, but if there is another challenge where there is a team challenge and she gets another “leader type” partner, I wonder who prevails.
I was fixated on something irrelevant. In the quick fire, Padma and the pastry chef were standing on white mats, and then they weren’t. It was strange.
As the mother of an allergic daughter and GM to her allergic daughter, I can not understand why Victoire didn’t speak up and say she wouldn’t cook with the walnuts. Maybe she is allergic to all nuts, and I realize this is about the win, but still. My daughter at the age of 2 would tell anyone that offered food near her that she was allergic to peanuts; even close family members that knew!
